A Lesson

Gazing into the ocean where she once stood,
lost in his own world, wondering what could've been.
It's too late now; it wouldn't do him any good.

Two years ago, he was all she could think of.
Alas, she never once came across his mind.
She was too blind to see that he wasn't in love.

Two months ago, she opened her eyes to what wasn't seen.
He studied her tragic hazel eyes and saw something rare and divine.
It's too late then; he left her wounded and scarred, far from serene.

Gazing at the sky, she wondered if omitting him from her life would develop regret
because she knows she could never forget her first love, even if secluded.
She stood, manifested a new lesson to open her heart and will never forget.

Commentary: I wrote this over a span of three days. I wrote the first two stanzas on the same day, the third stanza a few days ago, and the last stanza on July 22, 2006. I tried to rhyme and I sucked at it. Don't worry, I won't attempt to rhyme unless it sounds nice. This is an everyday thing, I've seen this happen so many times including to myself. Falling in love at the wrong time and deciding to let go at the wrong time...
